Windows Server 2003 SP2  (Can't get to a particular web site)
I have verified that my DNS entries are pointing to each other. I have verified there are no host with gradyhealth.org in my host list. I have cleared the cach. I do notice that the gradyhealth entry is in the cach before I cleared it but when I try to go to the site it populates again with the incorrect IP address. It sounds as though my DNS is getting the information from some other DNS server or a stale record. I have also inserted another DNS forward address and put it at the top of the list. I have done the same with my secondary DNS server.LP

I am trying to get to http://www.gradyhealth.org from inside my network. The browser tries to connect but comes back with a "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage" I did a nslookup from my DNS server and it is showing an incorrect IP address for gradyhealth.org. I have two DNS internal servers. I have tried clearing the cache and creating an A(host) record for the zone with the correct IP address and it still is not giving me the correct IP address. Outside of my network the url resolves to the correct IP address. All other websites resolve correctly.

Just to confirm, on your dns server did you use "dnscmd /clearcache" or "ipconfig /flushdns" to clear the cache? To clear the servers cache type in at command prompt "dnscmd /clearcache" After running "dnscmd /clearcache"on your dns server; At a command prompt, type Nslookup, and then press ENTER. type gradyhealth.org the what im getting from my home internet is below C:\Users\Adam>nslookup Default Server: UnKnown Address: 192.168.0.1 > gradyhealth.org Server: UnKnown Address: 192.168.0.1 Non-authoritative answer: Name: gradyhealth.org Address: 70.150.50.120 can you post your results?

Hello, please make sure that the server is pointing to your inernal DNS servers as DNS servers: one as primary and the other as secondary. For DNS servers, delete all zones for gradyhealth.org. Once done, make sure that all public DNS servers are set as forwarders and not as secondary DNS servers. After that, clear DNS cache on DNS clients and DNS servers. I was doing an ipconfig /flushdns. The following is what I get after the dnscmd /flushcache N:\>nslookup Default Server: gpc-dom4.poison.local Address: 172.28.196.140 > gradyhealth.org Server: gpc-dom4.poison.local Address: 172.28.196.140 Non-authoritative answer: Name: gradyhealth.org Address: 10.2.5.98 > I should be getting the 70.150.50.120 address as you have.LP

dnscmd /flushcache or dnscmd /clearcache You can see what your server has Cached by opening the DNS Manager --> Select your server --> Along the top menu click View --> Advanced --> A new item will appear in the tree called "Cached Lookups" go through the tree and find Org. then find gradyhealth see what references it has, you can delete it from here. You need to run dnscmd /clearcache on your dns server on your clients then run ipconfig /flushdns also run ipconfig /flushdns on your dns server now the cache is clear of any reference to the website try it again and see what you get.

I've done all of the above and when initially looking at the Cached lookups there is nothing there under .org. But as soon as try to go to gradyhealth.org, an gradyhealth entry appears with the 10.2.5.98 address.LP

Humm, ok can you post your dns forwarders or do you use the root hints? DNS Manager --> Right click your server --> properties --> Forwarders Tab --> do you have any entries, if so what are they? Also can you just confirm that there have been no manual entries made into dns, if there is any references to gradyhealth at all in your dns please delete them.

From your computer can you try something for me. Clear the client cache, Ipconfig /flushdns At cmd prompt, nslookup Server 205.152.144.188 gradyhealth.org Personally im getting, ns2.cl.bellsouth.net can't find gradyhealth.org: Query refused now try Server 205.152.144.23 gradyhealth.org For this i am getting, Server: [205.152.144.23] Address: 205.152.144.23 Non-authoritative answer: Name: gradyhealth.org Address: 70.150.50.120. If you are getting the same can you remove the top forwarder from your list, 205.152.144.188. dnscmd /clearcache ipconfig /flushdns It is kind of pointing to the top entry having problems , Can you please remove this from the list, 205.152.144.188 Personally i use my internet suppliers dns servers or even opendns, 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Also there shouldnt be any real need for soo many in the list, normally between 2 and 4. Edit: Also 205.152.0.8 isnt returning good for me. 138.33.61.85 is timing out 138.33.61.86 is timing out 138.33.61.91 is timing out 198.176.174.181 is timing out So ur current working forwarders sem to be, 205.152.144.23 205.152.37.23 198.176.174.189

Sorry for the delay. I found out that we are part of a larger organization that have internal resources we need to get to. Otherwords, we are a seperate department that is a subdomain of a larger one. So I had to include their internal DNS servers as part of my forwarders. There is a MetroE link that connects us to their router. We also have other links to the internet not connected to their router. Thats why there was so much confusion. The gradyhealth.org is located interanally, so I had to us their DNS server to resolve correctly. So for us 10.2.5.98 is where I needed to go since we are internal to them. The 70.150.50.120 is an external address. So when we would try to hit the external address, the return looked as though it was internal. I also had to place DNS statement in my firewall router so that it would know about their internal DNS servers. After all of this, the sites resolves correctly now. Thanks for your help.LP
